At nVent, supporting our communities is part of our culture and values. Through our partnership with the Minnesota Lynx as an inaugural Changemakers partner, we recently hosted students from two non-profit organizations, Girls Taking Action (GTA) and Summit Academy OIC, at our Anoka, Minnesota, manufacturing facility.
Throughout the event, students toured our production site, engaged with educational career booths and attended an employee panel. Students were separated into small groups and followed our knowledgeable tour guides throughout the plant. Following the tour, the students were exposed to several different career booths with passionate nVent employees sharing more information about their role at nVent. At the end of the event, two employees participated in a panel to share more insight into their roles with some time for students to ask questions.
In May 2024, nVent became a Minnesota Lynx Changemakers inaugural partner. Announced in 2023, the Changemakers platform is a first-of-its-kind venture focused on building the next generation of female leaders and elevating women’s sports in Minnesota.
Girls Taking Action (GTA) is a non-profit organization that empowers and mentors girls to succeed in school and life. Its mission is to motivate, empower and educate girls about the importance of understanding their personal power, achieving academically, actualizing their personal leadership, creating positive social change in their local community, and developing a career plan that includes post-secondary education.
Summit Academy OIC is an accredited, nonprofit Career and Technical Education (CTE) Institute. Its mission is to empower individuals to develop their ability to earn and become contributing citizens in their communities and economic drivers of the State of Minnesota. Students enroll at Summit Academy each year from across the seven-county metropolitan area.
“When visiting corporate partners, our goal is to expose our youth to new information, resources, tools and to enhance their experience. I believe nVent and the Lynx did just that. They got to see a different perspective on that thinking.” said one GTA chaperone.
Anoka has hosted many student tours over the years. Each year, nVent hosts students from nearby schools on Manufacturing Day for tours and career exploration. These events give students a greater understanding of the manufacturing industry and how we operate at nVent. These events are an opportunity to build our future leaders.
